Having lived in Danville, where my allergies began due to all the dry grasses, and having lived in Orinda/Lafayette for the last fifteen years, my allergies are next to nothing in comparison.
Being a native Californian, I never had allergies when I lived in the city verses the suburbs.
I was told by a doctor once, that when you live in the city, due to all the cement, one suffers less than when they come to the suburbs and the lands of green grasses, trees and shrubs.
This is my own personal experience. My son lives in Walnut Creek and sneezes. I rarely sneeze.

This is purely anecdotal but I am allergic to much grass pollen, especially rye grasses. I lived in Orinda for a couple of yeras and now I live in San Ramon but I also spent a year in Danville. I am sorry to say that I suffered just as much in all locations.
