A company is headhunting my husband and the offer will take us from Orem, Ut to the Los Angeles area. How do?

I find a cost of living index to be sure the offer this company puts on the table will increase our standard of living, or at minimum, keep it the same?

Hi Sara,

You have been given some great information. I just want to caution you about zillow. It's extremely unreliable. I have seen properties for as much as $200,000 high & $200,000 low. It may be beneficial to give you an idea of what areas go for. Realtor.com is a better indicator of prices.

Best of luck to you. Long Beach is a great place to live here. It's coastal but not as expensive as many coastal areas & has wonderful communities. Let me know how I can help you.

Hi Sara,
You can compare cities on moving.com (http://www.moving.com/Find_A_Place/compare2cities/index.asp).
You can use the "Cost of Living calculator" on salaryexpert.com . All you have to do is answer a few questions about the area and it provides you with an estimated equivalent income in the other city. Payscale.com is another similar site as well.
When it comes to relocation, the neighborhoods in Los Angeles can vary. You can read about the various neighborhoods on our website, too.
Please feel free to call or email with any other questions we may be able to help you with.
Good Luck on your move,
Lou & Alex

Hello Sara,
Another salary website is http://www.payscale.com/research/US/City=Los_Angeles/Salary. A cost of living comparison between cities can also be purchased for about $8.00 at http://www.c2er.org . To find properties, please feel free to search my website!

This site will provide comparisons of different areas.

The LA area is wonderful, SO much to do and see...from the ocean, mountains, museums, plays...world class universities...an amazing place to live.

Best of luck with your decision,
Laura Ashley
