Hi,
Water abatement system can take many forms. With the high water table in Springfield it is good to have a sump pump with backup systems on that and also if the home has had a previous water problem it is good to have one of the water abatement professionally installed systems...One form is they channel the water if any comes in through this gray looking enclosed trough around the perimeter of the basement and it goes into the sump pump where it is pumped out. That is the one I have seen most commonly in this price range in this area. When you place an offer on a home, it is recommended that you have a whole house inspection done by a licensed inspector and they can explain in further detail about the system that is in place.
Hope this helps you.
