is the basement included in the square footage??? I always thought it shouldn't be?

This property is a third floor condo, and there is no basement, so no, it is not included.

On an MLS listing there will be two sq tt amounts shown. Above ground sq ft (basement not included) and total finished (which would include finished basement space).

Where there can be some confusion is with split entry, 3 level and 4 level homes. Because there will be a level that is below ground but not a basement, some agents mistakenly place this in the above ground footage.

Check the tax record as well. Ultimately you are to be satisfied with the total. It is not an exact science, but rather a good estimate.

If the basement is finished it is included in the square footage.
