It would sound about right to check the city code. A neighbor and I are actually going to be doing that later today. The reason is because both of our houses were built next to an abandoned town home. Our plans has been to install a chain link fence until we got confused as to where our boundary collided. http://www.diamondfencevic.com.au/products/chain-wire-fencing

You should check the city code, but I'm sure chain-link is acceptable. It's an extremely durable fence type, and it stays looking nice for years. I don't think there's any reason to worry about the code, but it's a good idea to know the exact specifications. http://www.securityfencesystems.com
