Hi Deborah, as to whether it needs a new furnace would be determined reviewing age, servicing history & during the home inspection by a qualified professional. What are your thoughts that would bring you to that question? Have you been in this house/basement? There are many reasons if a basement gets damp, a qualified professional would be able to determine, for example, if it's a landscape grading problem, a gutter not extended or a serious foundation problem, etc. Let me know if I can assist you in any way.Thank you, Annie

Good Morning Deborah!
The MLS listing speaks of a new above ground oil tank - nothing regarding a wet basement.
Let me know if you need any further information.
