There is a freight train track that runs behind 14th Ave. in Menlo Park. What's the frequency and time of use by freight trains?

That track is abandoned. There was some talk about using it to set up rail service between the east Bay and MP/RWc, but it never went anywhere. That is not to say they will never be used, but as of now they are not.

Menlo Park has two sets of tracks and according to Caltrain, they run 92 weekday, 36 Saturday and 32 Sunday trains. They also operate extra trains for Giants baseball games and other special events.

Union Pacific Railroad runs freight trains along the Caltrain lines during the evening hours. Typically these will pass through Menlo Park between 10pm and midnight but that can vary and it can change at any time.

Good luck!
