The right to view apartment water bill

Asked by Tlmurray, Atlanta, GA Mon Mar 5, 2012

Does a tenant have the right to view the water bill for an apartment property? Some of the tenants think we're getting shafted on the bill. This is in Atlanta, GA.

You have the right to view your water bill or the portion you a responsible for paying. But, always refer back to your rental agreement to verify your obligations and rights.

If you are have concerns talk to your property manager. They may not be aware of any inconsistencies until you discuss it with them.

Good luck,

My non-legal opinion is yes. If you are being asked to pay for a utility, I believe your landlord has an obligation to share the bill as a show of good faith.
