Frank Fisher…, Other/Just Looking in Detroit, MI

Asked by Frank Fisher-love, Detroit, MI Tue Oct 18, 2011

Wasn't this house listed last week at, 19 million??? Are they serious? This is more than the original asking price! And wasn't this house also going up for auction? Ridiculous!

When a house "goes up for auction", it can mean a few different things. It could be a foreclosure auction, of which there have been many over the last few years. The other type of auction which is also common is to gather together lots of interested buyers in person, online, and with proxy bidders to get everyone in the same place who is interested in the home and perform an auction. In this case, the auction type for "The Razor" home was the latter. However, the auction was cancelled as a few interested buyers began to make hard offers on the property just prior to the event. The opening price in the auction was 19mm. Properties come availabe on this site up to 72 hours prior to Trulia.

Nothing really rediculous about this at all. As Mark so aptly stated anything goes in today's RE market. I've been involved with auctions where if they don't meet the price the owner/bank wants they're taken off the market.
