I was renting when the landlord put the home up for a short sale. Weeks later it went to auction and sold. Can I get my deposit back from him?

We had two months left on the lease and the new owner said we could stay or move out, we found a place and desided to move. Because we didn't stay out the entire lease with the original owner are we entilted to our deposit back? The new owners plan to move in right after we move out.

Every jurisdiction has rules regarding how long a landlord has to return deposits or show an itemized list of the repairs and cost that were deducted from the security deposit. In D.C. it is 45 days, I am not sure what it is in Frederick County but 30-60 days is the norm.
