Hi there Alex,
Not sure if you found your answer in time for the auction. For future, most auction companies will allow buyers to bid without an agent. Please keep in mind, that utilizing the services of an agent is typically paid for by the selling agent or their bank representative. So you are at no disadvantage in hiring the services of an agent that is familiar with the local area that you are looking to purchase property.

It is good to also note that Realtors have the most up to date information regarding market statistics trends, pricing and additional property information as a part of our member services through MLS and the various professional networks that we deal with on a daily basis. Many online sites have great additional statistics and information to offer, but not many sites including the tax appraiser's website will be as accurate and timely as working with a Realtor.

Plus, we have the daily experience, closed contracts and legal support to assist buyers in making the most informed real estate decisions in the current market that is at best confusing and tedious and at worst can lead to a nightmare purchase riddled with title issues, liens and construction defects.
Not every agent is the same and it makes sense to interview several before settling on one to help guide you. There are very few disadvatages to working with a real estate professional versus going it alone to make such an important investment purchase without a professional's help.
