I would recommend East Cobb, it is a wonderful place to live with great access to highways, shopping and wonderful schools. Please visit my website at http://www.chrissellsatlanta.com, click on communities and then Marietta, it will give you lot's of information on the area and school ratings. I was raised in the area and would love to help you search for your new home. Please feel free to contact me directly.

Great question! One indicator that some look at for the scholastic success for an area and the school systems can be from the SAT test scores. For the school year 2013 the highest test scores have been in Forsyth County. You can see the list at the Atlanta Journal Constitution article found here: http://www.ajc.com/news/news/local/georgias-2013-sat-scores- These schools have awesome
I have raised my three three children in Forsyth county schools and two of my children are currently enrolled at Georgia Tech. I have been very pleased with the education they received.
Moving anywhere along the 400 corridor can often be a good choice in that it is well-located if you work in Atlanta (intown) on the west side of town such as Marietta or Cobb County and it is convenient to read Gwinnett County.
You can search for homes by school district in North Atlanta (it is not just Cumming) at my website: http://www.housesincumming.com/ga/cumming/schools
You can check out Forsyth County athletics here: http://www.forsyth.k12.ga.us/site/default.aspx?PageID=1353
Note: I have lived in the area for twelve years and have accumulated my own "Kathy's List" (similar to Angie's List) of great service providers for doctor's, hair salons, plumbers and more.
Let me know if I can help!

Sandy Springs, just south of the Chattahoochee River.
Roswell is next, north of the river
Alpharetta, Johns Creek and Milton are excellent areas. (Milton is known for equestrian ownership)
Inside 285 is Brookhaven, Buckhead and Dunwoody; older areas but outstanding choices for nice
areas and "very good school systems."
This should give you a lot to search and ability to narrow your search for what is best for your family.
