In calculating your occupancy costs (mortgage payment + taxes + insurance,) if you use .05% of the loan amount for your owner's insurance, you should have a good idea of what your insurance will be and what your total occupancy costs will be when you add up the three categories.

Much depends on what type of coverage you want for structure and contents plus the deductible you will accept. Also have to know if the insurers consider this a high fire area and what type on prevention program it has.

Depending on answers to these it would likely be at least $4000 per year or higher..
