Hi Rusty,

If you're concerned about a lien placed on your home by your bank, you can check with them. If it's a mechanics lien that you can search on the ccrd.org website.

As previously mentioned though, just because it's not on the website doesn't necessarily mean there isn't one. You must have a suspicion of one otherwise why inquire?

You can also ask an attorney to do a quick search. Sometimes they'll do it for free, depends on your relationship. I may be able to help, call me if you can't find what you're looking for.

Good luck!

Go to ccrd.info and search by Property Identification Number (PIN). Enter the PIN in the website and see if there are any recorded liens. This does not guarantee that the property is free of liens, it is possible that there could be a lien that has not been recorded yet. If you don't know the PIN you can look it up by address at the cook county assessor's website. Good Luck

I was going to respond with the same answer that B.J. answered below -- http://www.ccrd.info. I would also add that you can check court filed liens against you and your property in cook county at the Clerk of the Circuit Court web site http://www.cookcountyclerkofcourt.org/ if you go here an go to on-line case information - then to full docket search. From there you can check "Civil" that would cover suits or judgements filed by creditors, etc. You can also check "Chancery" and that will show you if a foreclosure has been filed and give you an idea of where it is in the process. Good luck and I hope your lien free. If you have a problem, I can certainly share the names of some attorneys that might be able to help you out.

You can also ask your real estate attorney to look into it, but it will cost you money with them.

Just to add on to what B.J. has suggested if you don't know your property pin # you can find it at http://www.cookcountyassessor.com do a property search by address and your pin # will appear.
