in addition to Eric's comments, there is an addendum (addedum A) that can be added to an Offer to Purchase that would allow you to hire a professional to test for mold prior to closing. Whether a bank would accept an Offer with this type of contingency would depend on the overall Offer and the guidelines of this particular bank. I also looked back to when the property was listed 5 years ago and there were some disclosures made by the seller at that time; none referenced mold.
this home is a foreclosure so even if the bank did check it they will still have you sign several documents agreeing that you are buying the house in as-is condition with no guarantees or warranties as to it's condition. the bank most likely did not check it for mold in the attic or walls.
