Do i need to be zoned for commercial use?

I have a 1 family home which i would like to sell and have been approached by several professionals who would like to purchase the home and use it as a business (i.e. dentistry, pediatrics, law office...). Does the house need to be zoned for commercial use or require some sort of use permit in order t proceed?
