Can you tell me if this road was once called Roses Road.?

Asked by lorraine.wood, San Gabriel, CA Mon Jul 1, 2013

My parents worked for The Livingston family who would have moved to this area (405 Roses Road) in 1926 from Chicago. My parents drove them there, one the limo and one the car. They had a 1000 acre Almond Ranch. They mention in their letter their home had a veranda on it and I can imagine this may have at one time. I am in Canada and would love to hear any information you may have on this.

Hi Lorraine,
The Country Club was founded in 1904 and the street was named to reflect the club. I spoke to a local builder who has history in the area and he is not aware of a 1000 acre Almond Ranch in the area. Additionally the City of San Gabriel has a section on their website http://www.sangabrielcity.com which indicates which streets have had a name change and neither Country Club nor Roses are on the list. Perhaps it is another area. Best wishes on your history hunt.

Thank you very much for your response. I would like to find out where 405 Roses Road is/was and I know it was San Gabriel. I have the hand written letter describing the home and the fact they had a 1000 acres of almonds.
