Dear Mchelle,

Thank you for your service to the country! I am a retired Air Force Veteran myself.
You may use your VA loan benefits to buy almost any house. There are some stipulations that we need to talk about, and not everybody finds it smart to use their VA loan to buy their first house. In many cases, an FHA loan is a wiser way to go, and then save your VA eligibility for a larger house later on.
Many people are focused on the "Zero Down" feature of a VA loan. But don't forget there are closing costs, and the VA charges a funding fee. So we will need to look very closely at your personal situation in order to be able to anwer the question for you and for the house you are buying. It must pass a VA appraiser's inspection. Your loan officer and I will work closely together to determine the best type of loan for you. If you need a suggestion for a good loan officer who is doing VA loans regularly, please contact me and I will put you in touch with one.
Best wishes for you and your new home.
