Pleasanton is an excellent place to raise a family. The timing you mentioned is nit rush hour and commute wont be bad at all.

It all depends on the time you leave Pleasanton.
If you can work from 6-2. and leave your house at 515, your commute should be ok, leave at 2 to come home and you'll be fine.
