Yogaworks is very close by on Green st. I live in the San Rafael Hills neighborhood and often walk to that area (just before Old Town) and in to Old Town on the weekends when we can take our time.

I love Pasadena. I don't think anyone would be uncomfortable in the area. Los Angeles is not like New York, we are very "spread out' here and the distances can be far. Not so much in actual miles, but the traffic makes it very difficult to get from place-to-place at times. We do not have the amazing Subway systems that New Yorkers are used to. Reading the responses to this question is like reading a brochure for a retirement community. Pasadena is like any other town that is close to a major metropolitan area like LA. Given its 100+ year history, Pasadena has gone through its ups and downs like many other cities. As it stands now, it has a lot to offer in the way of nightlife, restaurants, sport events, and education. However, what the other reviewers failed to mention is that there are some areas of Pasadena that are not as nice. These areas are low income areas that have just about everything you can think of e.g. gangs, drugs, etc. You'll pay a premium to live in the nice areas of Pasadena, however, if you can deal with the drama thats associated with a low income neighborhood, there are deals to be had. Just my thoughts.... more
