I know about Briarcliff Manor, any others? I'm starting to look in Briarcliff, Chappaqua, Pleasantville, Katonah, Bedford, and also considering Larchmont area for a better commute to NYC.
Hi Amy,
You may find the following web site helpful it gives all the Westchester County Real Estate Sales Statistics by School District http://coldwellbankerwestchester.com/

As Realtors, we cannot steer buyers into districts based upon our opinions of schools, so like the others, please visit the websites the others have listed so you can decide which are right for your family.
That being said, where I live in Yorktown, we have several community pools, open in the summers, and adult indoor swims managed by the town in both the Lakeland SD and Yorktown SD, in the past. There are nominal fees for use of the pools. There is also an indoor pool at Club Fit, not cheap to join, but a good club, that I belong to.
This is just north of the area you are looking in.
Just my opinion,
-Cathy
Hi Amy, http://www.SchoolMatters.com And http://www.GreatSchools.Com are two great sites. What makes a school great will be for you to decide as the criteria will vary from person to person. As for pools I love Westwood In Thornwood, and if you live in New Castle (Chappaqua and parts of Mt Kisco) you can become a member. I used to live there and use the pool. The Rye beach club is also great and close to Larchmont. I live in Rye and you might want to check there, we have 3 country clubs and tons to do for the whole family!

Hi Amy,
Realtors cannot disclose to you which Westchester towns have the best schools. It violates the fair housing law. It is up to the buyer to do their own research. You can check out the following link for school information:
http://www.greatschools.net
Once you have narrowed down your search to which towns that you would like to live in, you can then check out the recreation department for each town and check out their public pools.
As for commuting to NYC via train, you can check out the MTA website. Metro North has 3 lines running through Westchester County: the Hudson, the Harlem and the New Haven. Larchmont is on the New Haven line.
The following is the link for the MTA maps and will point out each station in Westchester County. Green is Hudson, Blue in Harlem and Red is New Haven.
http://mta.info/mnr/html/mnrmap.htm
You can press on each station to get information about that station including schedules and parking.
Once you have done your research then you can work with a realtor who can help you find your dream home.
