It does no snow there very often. If you would like snow, come to Nevada City or Grass Valley because we get the perfect amount. Just enought to see the wonder of its beauty as it decorates the landscaping with a beautiful blanket of snow. Long enough to admire it, play in it, and watch it melt away! Look out your window at night and dont stop watching it or it might stop!
Jim,
There are some years where you will get no snow at all in Lake of the Pines. And then once every 5 or 10 years you will get a storm that drops snow all the way down to Sacramento. This might put a foot at LOP. Just stay home a day or two and the roads will be plowed and the snow will melt. A small snow fall will be less than an inch and easily drivable.
Thanks,
John Daly
Hi Jim,
Only snows about once a year in Lake of the Pines, which is close to Auburn. If you're looking for decent weather it's a pretty nice place. Close to Sacramento and Reno. What more can you ask? If you want snow it's not too far away. There is lots of skiing and winter sports just about 1 1/2 hours away.
Hi Jim. My office is just feet away from Lake of the Pines (we just opened a new branch there in November). We had a light dusting at the end of last year. Not really enough to make a snowman. We also had about 2 inches of snow the winter before. All in all, it snows rarely as we are only at about 1,500 foot elevation. There was a lot more snow in Grass Valley when we had the last snow in LOP. Let me know if you need more LOP related info. I'd be happy to send it your way.
