It's hard to beat the combination of beauty, cleaner air, and a variety of terrains. There is one dog park I know about by Bay front park near the Middle School. I don't have a dog but many talk about it as a place to go. I think dogs can even go in the water. Mill Valley offers hiking, mountain biking(it all started in Marin), the beach, endless bay views, forests with loads of walking trails.

There are four types of parks and open space in Marin: National Parks, State Parks, County Parks and Marin Open Space. All said there are over 144,000 acres of natural wonderland to explore-enough to keep you and your family busy for a lifetime. Please goto my website to find out more about each and for relevant links.

Here is a great link for recreational resources in Mill Valley (and all of Marin) for that matter. I hope you find it helpful! I know I love the Marin and Mill Valley outdoors!

As mentioned in the previous section the premier running path is along the wetlands, but there is also the famous Tennessee Valley, a huge area that gives access to the Marin Headlands and the Pacific Ocean, ideal for walking, biking or running. The city has approx. 8 smaller parks.

Parks dot the map in town. There is a dog park near the community center and soccer fields. The Mill Valley Community Center features playing fields, indoor pool with slide, excercise gym, meeting rooms, large multi-purpose room used for special events and excercise classes. Other smaller community centers with pools and/or tennis courts are located in various neighborhoods around town. The busy all purpose 'bike' path links Tiburon, Corte Madera and Sausalito to Mill Valley.

There are numerous neighborhood parks and recreational facilities in Mill Valley. But the community center and community fields along the waterfront are personal favorites. You can jog or bike along the bay front trail, even horseback ride, kayak right from the public boat launch, take in soccer or ball games, there is a skateboarding park, basketball courts, and the county's best dog park. Along the bay front, you can bike into San Francisco, or jog for miles. It's incredible.

If you look at a Mapquest Map of Marin County you will see that the only developpment is around the very fring of the San Francisco Bay-- the rest of County is all Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA) and State park 'Open Space'. There are many hiking, biking, and running trails, baseball diamonds and sport fields.
