Older homes may not have a C/O. Even if a home has a C/O you should still get a home inspection. C/0 is issued when a home is finished being built. A Certificate of Compliance is issued when there is a remodel, new mechanical system and other major changes. The C/O or the COC are only given when the job is finished to code.
