Except for the facility Richard mentioned, we do not have one. If you are looking for special amenities, almost every site like Trulia,Yahoo,Homefinders, etc. will give you a link for demographics broken down into age ranges, income, etc. Hope this helps.

There was a newspaper report last week about a senior community that is going to be built near Bent Tree Plantation at Ocean Isle Beach. This is supposed to be an assisted living developement but only if the resident needs the help other wise it would be just for fellowship of others

A groundbreaking will be later this month on a site that will soon be home to Arbor Landing at Ocean Isle, a retirement living community with assisted services.

Built by Ridge Care, a company that claims to offer “residential senior living alternatives,” Arbor Landing will provide seniors 55 and older four apartment styles ranging from studios to two-bedrooms. For increased security, all apartments are accessible from inside entrances. Apartments will include large, private baths and kitchenettes.

While residents may come and go as they please, services such as three meals a day, activities, exercise programs and fitness and wellness initiates will be offered.

A 24-hour staff will be on hand in case of emergency situations or requested assistance.

“The exciting thing is it is brand new. There’s not anything similar to what we’re doing there,” Amanda Moore, vice president of sales and marketing for Ridge Care said.

Moore said Arbor Landing will be more of a retirement community; residents will enjoy all the freedom and luxuries of living on their own, but have the added comfort of knowing assistance and support is just outside their doors.

“It’s the perfect balance. It offers just the right balance of independence and support,” she said.

The planned activities and programs also provide opportunities for socialization, she said.

“The idea is you have privacy in your own apartment but if you want socialization all you have to do is walk out your door,” Moore added.

A home care agency will also be available to residents if they have an injury and require special assistance or have a condition where more individualized attention is necessary.

Arbor Landing at Ocean Isle will be at 5521 Beach Drive SW. A groundbreaking ceremony is set for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19.

Moore said Ridge Care’s last project took 12 months to complete, and she hopes Arbor Landing will open during the summer of 2010.

“We’re really excited to be coming there and to be offering something that is not already there,” she said. “It really is a good fit for what we’ve done, and we are excited about coming to Brunswick County.”
