Hi Amit. What an interesting question.
I don't know that you could necessarily cancel and pick up "new" service at a different address and qualify as a "new customer". On the other hand, in today's market, I would THINK that if you would threaten to switch to a competitor, your service provider should seek to strike a deal with you to keep you as a customer. (I know that when my 2-year deal came up recently, I threatened to go with a competitor and they ultimately continued my 2-year-only deal for another 2 years!:)
I would suggest that you call your company and explain the situation. If they say "there's nothing I can do for you," ask to speak to their supervisor. The supervisor may be able to get you a great rate that the general customer service rep cannot.
One other thought: perhaps -- and this is only a possibility -- you can put your "new" service in your spouse's name (assuming her name wasn't associated with the prior service) and qualify as a new customer that way. However, given the competitiveness of the marketplace, I would think you wouldn't have to go that route.
I hope that helps. Good luck and blessings to you............
Warmly,
Judy
