Relocating to Area

Asked by Peggy Hill, Roanoke, VA Sat Mar 14, 2009

My family and I are moving to Roanoke. We are new to the are and have 3 children. Schools and being in a convenient location are very important to our family. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where we should look? Thanks.

We recently moved to Salem. Prices here are MORE expensive not less like the realtor crowd will tell you. I've dumped 2 realtors in the past 6 months as we're waiting for home prices to come down in an apartment. Prices are just now going down so sit tight and good things will come. Be careful what realtor agency you use because 2 I tried were definately "seller" realtors and not "buyer" realtors. We like the area and the good schools are Glenvar, Salem, Hidden Valley and Cave Spring.

Hi Peggy - I will agree. I relocated here myself in 1999 from Pittsburgh, and boy do I LOVE the weather! We still have the great four seasons, but not too much snow! Real estate prices here are relatively inexpensive compared to other areas, and I think the schools are top notch. I have been in your shoes numerous times moving from state to state, so I know all the issues you are looking at. You can find every available link at this website: http://WWW.RoanokeMoves.com, from neighborhood prices, to schools, to restaurants, etc. Also, because of the the interstate in Roanoke, basically everything is centrally located.

If you need a relo packet or would like to talk to me further regarding relocation issues...feel free to contact me directly at
