Moving to NC in the summer

Asked by Michael Pitz, Ashland, OH Fri Jan 4, 2013

In the summer we are planning to move to NC wanting to find out twhat the area schools are like as I have 2 boys ages 12 & 9. Also what the average rents are going to run. Would like to be near beach, good schools, lots of entertainment, but if possible not a huge city as we are coming from a small town of about 20,000. Any suggestions of where to move. Seeking employment as well

North Carolina is a great place to call home. There are many areas that offer a high quality of life, top rated schools, and lots of entertainment. It looks from your post that you haven't narrowed your search just yet so I'd encourage you to take a look at the Triangle to see if it is an area you might consider.

Hi Michael, you will love Wilmington!

The best website to research the local schools is http://www.greatschools.org/
The monthly rent will depend on the area and type of a rental (single family home vs condo).
Feel free to email me directly at bdesmond@intracoastalrealty.com or call at 910-508-0793.

There is a lot of turnover in rentals when school is out, you should have no trouble finding something suitable in $1,000 to $1,200 / month range off the beach, add 30% to 50% for closer to the beach. Most families want to live in a single family home near but not on the beach, and have a typical home life that does not include tourist, party, and influx of transient populations. You can spend time on http://www.ncschoolreportcard.org and get a feeling for NC schools by area or school, or ask your realtor. Research on the web is a good thing, with that said, a good realtor can fill in a lot of blanks in 10 minutes. New Hanover County has 50 miles of beach, it contains both a small city and small towns, your choice. Jeff Terry, Realtor, 910-231-7814

Great place for the whole family! I live in Carolina Beach and love the small hometown feel. Average rent for a 3 bedroom house in Carolina Beach is around $1200-$1600 per month.
Feel free to give me a call!

Michael,
I moved here a couple of years ago and have loved the move. I am here with my wife and 3 kids. They also love being here. You can go to my website to see the school information and I can lead you to the right place to find a rental.
Give me a call or email me back.
I look forward to hearing from you!
