Jlarow, Home Buyer in La Crosse, WI

I am looking to buy some property in Las Vegas because I have been told that unless you live there, companies will not hire you. NE 1 sold b/c of this

Asked by Jlarow, La Crosse, WI Sat Mar 24, 2012

Sorry for the internet lingo, I ran into length restrictions. I am looking to purchase some moderately priced real estate to establish residency as I search for employment. Has anyone sold property to people moving there for this reason?

It is true that it is harder to find a job when you are not already living here.
Also you might find it harder to get a loan as well.

Well, you couldn't have picked a better time to buy a home in Las Vegas. I would like to know more about your goals in buying a home though. Do you know Vegas well? Do you have any idea of what areas you would like to look at or what side of town you prefer? I would be more than happy to set up a search for you based on your specific criteria so you can start to get an idea of the opportunities available to you. Please let me know if you have any other questions or if there is anything else I can do for you. Good luck with the job search!

I am an agent, but I worked in HR for a major corp here and we did not consider, for the most part, applicants that did not live here. Lots of people come into town and apply, but the chances of their following through are low, so it is a waste of everyone's time.

I have lived here in Las Vegas for about 20 years, and I am familiar with all the nooks and crannies of this area. Of course todays moderately priced home was yesterday’s premium property, so you should be very happy with your purchase. I am in the process of relocating a family into this area from Chicago even as we speak. I would be happy and excited to help you and your family find the right location for your current situation.

Give me a call and/or visit my website, and let’s get started.

Well, I'm not sure if you've heard of the Downtown Project, but there are a bunch of companies relocating here because of that. In the last week, I've met people from San Fran, Virginia, and all sorts of places who are commuting here while they get settled. Not sure what type of work you're looking for, but I'd be happy to discuss it with you. Feel free to get in touch with me and we can discuss your unique situation, thanks,

That is a new one to me. Las Vegas has seen such a huge in-migration for the past 20 years, that I wouldn't put too much credence in the idea that you have to own. I am a Realtor, so I would love to sell you a home, but I would think you would want to know that you have a job here first. My take on the question is - no.

Best of luck, and thanks for reading.
