The short answer is YES, you can apply for a mortgage during your divorce proceedings... here in AZ anyway, I am not sure about MI. This is a question to ask your attorney, since there may be consequences you want to avoid.
Applying now & then closing after the divorce is finalized would be something to look at. If that is not an option, depending upon the type of mortgage you are applying for, the lender may require your soon to be ex-husband's credit report pulled and his minimum monthly payment obligations added to your minimum monthly liability column to determine your debt-to-income ratio, based solely on your income, alone. A "Conventional" does not have this requirement.
