I believe you can go wherever you want. The original lender may have costs involved that they may or may not request reimbursement for. i.e. credit reports, appraisals, etc. Please ask the 'other' lender how that works and if you will be liable for anything. It's not fun as a loan officer to have this happen, but it does occasionally. Over the last 30+ years I've haven't seen much of a previous lender coming back at the buyer for anything.
You'll also want to talk to your Realtor to see if the Purchase Agreement prohibits changing lenders, i.e. usually see this, if applicable, with foreclosure/lender owned properties.
