Overall this is a pretty sought after area. It has a bit of that college area "vibe" without being close to student housing/rentals and there are great areas for shopping and food nearby. Kind of the best of both worlds. The homes (as you probably already know) are older but the area, overall, is well kept. Ridgecrest is close to this area and there are several amazing homes there! Nobhill is right down the street and this is where you can find all the great shopping and eating. Here is a quick little video tour of what you might expect for the area -…

The overall area of any neighborhood is subjective. It really depends on what you're looking for and what meets your needs as well as what fits your comfort level. Specifications that may be ideal for one person, could be the complete opposite for another.

I suggest thoroughly visiting the area and nearby neighborhoods to see how you personally feel about the overall location.

It's your opinion that matters most.

I really like this area. Homes in this specific area tend to be more affordable when being compared to the areas just west(Nob Hill and Ridgecrest) of this home. Keep in mind that is area has many expensive homes as well. I have many professional friends that live in the area and they have not had any problems. It is within close proximity to amenities in Nob Hill and Central Ave. such as restaurants, retail stores and nightlife. Overall, it is a desirable area.

If crime and safety is a concern, you'll find that there is crime everywhere. Don't leave any expensive goods in your car. Like most places I've lived in this country, one has to be wise about not inviting breakins and theft.

If you have children that will attend schools in the area, I recommend searching out local school information. Both Trulia and Zillow offer pretty good stats on surrounding schools. You can also take a look at for more info.

I hope this helps. If you would like a complete list of homes in this area, I would be more than happy to help.

Close to UNM, Nob Hill and Downtown, what is not to like? If you are an urban person you will love it. If you like mountains, nature and trails you may consider closer to the mountains.

I like it very much, I'm not a big town kind of Gal, so country living is a plus. I've had Open Houses there and have friendly folks stop in just to say hi and introduce them selves. I've attended functions at the school, and everyone has always be helpful and friendly.

Visit a neighborhood several times to get a sense of belonging. Rreal estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase, or not, in specific neighborhoods...

My opinion is the area is on the upswing that goes along with the Central Avenue upgrades that extend from the river all the way to the mountain.
