Just check out the local police departments police reports and look online for their incident reports. You make your own decision from this

When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local police department with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods.

We cannot comment on things of this nature. If you are curious you can check crimesbyblock.com or go to the area at all times of the day and night and check it out yourself. Only you know whats best for you.

Trulia's own neighborhood page shows crime and type of crime on the map. You can check that, click on each 'flagged' location, then decide. In general, warm weather equals higher crime statistics, so make sure you aren't checking cold, cold January for whatever area you're interested in. You want to be looking at statistics for June, July, August.

I lived in Logan Square for 7 years and never had any issues with safety. Alternatively, I lived in Birmingham Alabama for 3 years and was mugged twice. So based on my experience, Logan Square in Chicago felt very safe to me. A lot of safety is using common sense.

Make sure to contact the police stations in the areas that you'd like to live. They can give the best advice.

Agents cannot talk about this and everyone might have different opinions about it, but check with police crime statistics.
