Hi there,
Your question is now several months old and I hope you have found your answer.
However if not, I am a member of MIBOR (Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of Realtors), Real Estate Broker, with my very own private real estate company, Clayborn Real Property Consultants Inc. I also happen to live in Johnson County. If requested, I can research any market history in the area you choose with the system MIBOR agents use.
No obligation whatsoever.

Call a local Realtor that has listings in your area, that is the best option.
Also try http://www.zillow.com for a rough comp value.

Ask your local realtor for a free comparable market analysis and show you what homes sold for in your area. This doesn't involve any contract with that realtor. With most realtors being in a Multiply Listing Service those answer could be answer quickly with the internet. You could also go go the court house and research for yourself.
Laurie, almost any good real estate agent will be wiiling to share this information with you and that is probably the easiest way. Indiana is a disclosure sate and all sales are supposed to be reported and are public knowledge. If you want to do the ground work yourself you should be able to view the recent sales disclosures at your township offices
Laurie-
Don't just contact a realtor-- invest some time and interview several and get some referrals from people you know and trust. Then, build a relationship with one and get into a business relationship that will serve you and the relator for years to come.
The easiest way is to contact a local realtor. Some of the online sites do not give an accurate portrayal. Otherwise, you can go to your town hall (tax dept.)and do the research yourself.
Hi Laurie,
If you’re looking to sell your home you need to get yourself the best and most accurate answer. It’s true that the very best way to do so is by contacting a Realtor. If the issue is that you want to sell on your own you should consider that statistically speaking, For Sale by Owner homes generally sell for less and remain on the market longer than those represented by a licensed agent. In the long run, you may end up losing money. Just food for thought.
A good agent will contact their network of other agents and buyers to quickly get the word out about the property. The home would also get listed in at least one multiple listing service. This will give other agents the opportunity to find your home when they are looking for something similar in your area.
If they do the listing justice, they would likely advertise it on some of the better known websites like Trulia, Realtor.com, Yahoo real estate, etc.
There should be no charge for getting you specific information on sales in your area and there is no obligation for you to list with anyone who prepares a competitive market analysis. This will give you an accurate answer.
Should you have a discussion with a Realtor and they don’t gladly offer you that service, keep looking.
If you need any help getting your answers, please let me know. I can find someone that will be happy to assist you.
All the best,
George Antonopoulos
