Air quality is poor. I know lots of kids with asthma and can actually smell emissions some days. Summer days ARE smoggy - just fly out of it sometime, there is no doubt. Auto emissions and coal fired power plants are the biggest source of air pollution in Ohio.
As bad as LA? That is truly hard to believe, but Ohio has a long way to go to clean up the environment. (I would hardly call the American Lung Association a bastion of gobble degook spouting tree huggers!) Mon Mar 31 2008, 06:54

It's not bad at all, there is hardly any industry here and I've lived here for 40 years and have yet to see any type of smog whatsoever. It does get humid here in the summers but that's about it. I'm not sure what environmental gobble degook the the American Lung Association is spouting, but if Columbus gets the same grade as L.A. then there's something seriously wrong with their grading scale, and it's useless because there is a BIG difference.

Our regional planning commission said recently that we do have an air pollution problem. I believe it's mostly transportation, all the automobiles. We don't have much industry in comparison to most of the cities in this part of the country.
The Lung Association gave Columbus an F for both ozone days and particles in the air. The Lung Associaton does not grad on a curve though we had way less ozone days than LA but both cities got an F. Wed May 16 2007, 17:45 Web Reference: http://columbusbestblog.com/news-weather-sports/columbu...
