What price per square foot should we pay for a home built in Jefferson City Missouri?

The home is a story and a half. It was built in 1996 and is in pretty decent shape but not perfect. it has 3 bedrooms and an office (8'x8'). There are 3 full and one half bath. Half of the basment is finished. The yard is level and pretty good sized. The home has 2100 square feet. It is in a great neighborhood. We love the location and the house but we do not want to get taken. We are new to the area.

Quite honestly, "price per square foot" is not a great way to evaluate a home. It is more important to compare the home to recent sales and homes that are currently listed in the same neighborhood. "Price per square foot" only really comes into play if you are considering new construction or building a new home. Current prices to build start at over $125 per square foot.

It is important to use a local Realtor to assist in the purchase of the home. Using a Buyer's agent costs you nothing and gives you enormous value. They are the ones that can provide a comprehensive market analysis of the property you are interested in purchasing. The buyer's agent will look at recent sales and currently listed properties for you and let you know how the property compares.
