When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local authorities with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods. http://www.neighborhoodscout.com/ https://www.crimereports.com/http://www.homefair.com/

Sacramento covers a lot of ground and just like any city in the world some areas are different than others. there are different websites that can give you specific information. Raidsonline.com is one site i've used to understand crime rates in a specific area. good luck!

There are federal laws that restrict ALL those working with the public from discussing areas that might be considered 'safe' or unsafe' based on crime or any other factors. It could be construed as steering, and if you ask police officers they will tell you the same thing as realtors will here on this site.

You need to study sites such as crimemappers or the KCRA3 site on crimes to determine for yourself what the crime level is in any particular neighborhood. As part of your exploration, also visit the area at different times of the day, both weekdays and weekends to determine how safe you feel in an area.

Good luck to you!

I am a real estate professional working in the sacramento and surrounding areas. Investors are slowly moving into the oak park area and revitalizing the properties there. It is a good idea to familiarize yourself with an area before deciding to move in. Property prices in that area are much lower then some surrounding areas, but I believe that it will slowly increase as new home owners decide to make a life there. In conclusion, I hope that new families will help keep the crime rate down.
