Depends on ALOT of factors. I would budget on 100-130 per square foot as a yard marker.

Hi there,
I agree with what Diana said below. If you are thinking of buying the land yourself and then talking to builders (and I would talk to more than 2 or 3) then you have to tell them everything you want in a home as well. But, make sure your lot has electical, sewer and water close to it. There are many hidden costs and please PLEASE please get everything in writing from a contractor. I would also have the contract looked over by a real estate attorney to make sure you are not getting taken advantage of. There are many ways that contractors can write a contract on homes being built. Some will tell the price per square foot, some will say their cost plus 25% mark up etc...make sure you really have your contract looked over. Most of the times you do end up going over budget. Right now, I do not know of any new developments in San Dimas. So, I am thinking you are talking about a custom home. Just do your research and make sure you are comfortable. Good luck and have fun! Hi Keith:
Are you thinking of building on a lot or are you looking for new construction? If you are looking for new construction I am not aware of any new construction (tract homes) in San Dimas. There are some that are scheduled in the future but they are higher end properties. There are some individual new construction homes and they are built according to the area and amenities that the area would handle. If you are thinking of building a home, there is a lot more to the question than meets the eye. There are Building permits, sewage, water and electrical hook ups besides the cost per square foot. Not to mention owning the land. You can find many contractors at different prices, but make sure check out their references. Always remember that there usually is about a 20% difference from what you are quoted for the job and what you finally pay because of changes. I hope you found this helpful Make all decisions with information not emotion! Diana Margala 909-945-5763 Mon May 5 2008, 11:48

Keith, Working with Sub-contractors, they tell me between $90.00 - $120.00 sq. ft. depending upon chosen ammenities, upgrades (including green) and other items such as the non-expected run-ins. Good Luck. CIndy Vedder
