Altadena, I think you should always look for at least a 2 bedroom condo as an investment. For just a little more in purchase price your rental market really opens up for you. If the 1 bedroom is priced really well and the numbers work for you and there are no better 2 bedroom or 3 bedroom deals then it could work. Check the rents out on rental sites and make your best decision. Hire an agent too.
Hello,
Please know that a question of this nature is best answered by a property management company. We refer our rental/investment property owners to Meridian Property Management. You can review their information at:
http://www.ampropman.com/
You can also use Craigslist to identify rental rates as 85% to 90% of all tenants are found through that service.

I recommend a minimum 2 bedrooms for rentals and prefer 3.
Hi Altadena,
My friend this is incomplete question you did not include the price. Again it
depends on the price on the unit that you aare going to purchase it might
lower price or higher price, so better state the price in the question,
