We are considering retiring in the Richardson, TX area... Where can we get the most for our $$ in that area?

Grandchildren are in the Richardson Heights area, so we want to be fairly close to them.

Richardson is well established neighborhood you can always find a good deal either updated or need some TLC however beautiful homes. Hi Ginger- Almost all neighborhoods in Richardson are safe areas. I would look at neighborhoods close to/in walking distance from your grand kids. The great thing also with Richardson is it had a huge building burst in the 1970's when ranch homes were popular - no stairs.

I live in Richardson and work at Ebby Halliday-Richardson. When you are back in town, I’d be glad to drive you around to orientate you on neighborhoods of Richardson and options.

There has recently been a lot of revitalization to Richardson with updating shopping facades, monument entry points and walls to neighborhoods and new restaurants. An exciting time to live in Richardson!

Richardson has several areas where you can still find great deals. I would suggest looking into foreclosure's or short sales. I specialize in both of these types of real estate. Richardson is a great area and especially with grandchildren in the area you will definitely enjoy your retirement here. Really it would be hard to nail down what specific area will give you the most bank for your buck. Truly the best way to approach it is talk to a professional and have some emails sent to you of homes in the price range you are looking for. When you come into town your Realtor should be able to tour you around and discuss the pros and cons of every property. Right now you normally get the most bang for your buck out of foreclosures. However many times they do need work, but typically are priced accordingly in the buyers favor.

Bottom line is what can you qualify to purchase ? Are you mortgage ? Cash ? That will govern what part of Richardson . Dallas is in a healthie market for home sales. It all depends if you have time to wait for deal . Wthe foreclosure status stopped in Texas , and with homes value do you have knowledge extra cash rehab a home OR purchase a home move in quality.

Lenders shy away from distressed properties.
