Tax app. for Fairway Acres in Argyle 76226 went down ~ 25,000 from 2011 to 2012 -asking $ for land is x2 the tax app value. WHY?

It is fairly easy to get the tax district to lower the value. Owners will often appeal the county to get their appraisals lowered. If the value dropped per the tax district most likely that is what happened. The tax districts value has no correlation to the market value of the house. Often times Realtors will provide comps to their clients so that they can fight their appraisals. For more information you can contact me.

Just saw a home in Southlake that went up $100K in one year....but I know the market value did not change that much.

Tax values are not good indicators of a good or bad deal at sales prices above or below the tax value. Have a Realtor help you with actual market values.
