I am looking to buy a starter home in LA. Where I choose to live isn't of GREAT importance simply because I?
travel a lot for work. Currently living in Hammond and benefit from the 1-12/I-55 being close by. If you had to invest money in a starter home between Slidell, LA and Gonzales, LA, where would you go and why? I would plan to live in home for 3-5 years and hope to see a profit (not that that's unusual ;-)) Thanks for reading!

If I were to buy a home in the areas you specified it would probably be in Livingston Parish. I've talked to builders in the area who despite the slow market are still making sales. Also, there is overflow from Baton Rouge moving in and the growth could be compared to the Northshore during the 80's. Back then the economy had slowed but the Northshore kept on trucking because of people moving from New Orleans. Livingston is one of the fastest growing parishes in the state right now and you can bet that it will be a good investment.
