I am looking to buy a 2BR/2BA condo as an investment. What LA neighborhood would yield the most rent?

- Max 500K
- Location options: West L:A, Westwood, Sherman Oaks, or Studio City?

Given those choices of location, West LA will be the most expensive place to purchase.

Westwood...especially near UCLA. UCLA only guarantees housing for freshmen and sophmores only. If you ever drive around the surrounding neighborhood you'll see plenty of students walking, biking to class. I feel sorry for the families that have to put up with those crazy frat parties (I used to frequent them...whoops!). Students also commute from the Culver City area as well, like Palms. I also notice in my neighborhood of Miracle Mile I see A LOT of FIDM students, which I've never noticed before the 6+ years I've lived in this neighborhood. So, my vote Westwood then WLA.

A great website to research rent values is
www.rentslicer.com
which gathers craigslist rental information and "slices" it up in several different ways. You can easily rank different area using great mapping tools.

Hi Ted,
Of the areas you mention, Westwood would yield the most rent. Of course, a condo there will also cost more than in the other three areas. You should also consider West Hollywood, where it is very easy to rent out condos because there are so many places renters can walk for dining, nightlife, shopping, etc. Let us know if you need any help with your search... our website is below.
