Trulia has a great resource under the listing to see the crime report. I would also check out the street view on google maps to get an idea of what it looks like.

Good luck

At the listing, go to the bottom where the map is and click at crime tab; it will highlight crime rates. Double check this with the local LA County Sheriff Dept on Imperial at (323) 820-6700.

As a Retired Police Officer I always tell my clients to check the local crime stats. LAPD has a great page: http://www.lapdonline.org/crime_mapping_and_compstat.

this area is horrible.. there are hispanic gangs in that area.. i hope you are not an african american family trying to move there because you will be harrased by them. by me having teenage boys it really was an issue.. good luck and say hello to shootings every night

When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local police department with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods.
