The best information can be found by going straight to the Williamson County Appraisal District website.

Information on the tax rates (including MUDs) that are added up to make up your total tax bill can be found there on this page:

then click on Tax Rate Information.

Hello Mo_Wharton,

Property taxes can and will vary within cities and counties in Texas. Homes less than a mile apart can have different tax rates based on taxing authorities like schools and other amenities. The difference is usually not that drastic but they do vary.

If you would like to talk this or anything else I am a local Realtor and Mortgage Broker who works in that area. I even own property in Georgetown and live in nearby Cedar Park. Would love to help in any why that I can.

Hope this helps.

I know they vary within cities etc. but this does not tell me how the yare calculated. I am interested in a house in Georgetown but do not know how the property tax is calculated there. Who is responsible for setting them, are there mello roos, and what is covered by taxing authorities? What is the base rate and how is that arrived at?
