looks like an extremely overpriced falling knife. I can't get over how much crummy little houses in Arlington cost -- and I'm from New York!
Hi Tim
I live in Takoma Park and have been doing real estate here for 20 years now. The prices are good and have held up well. There have been some foreclosures but not as many as in outlying areas.
we are still cheaper than Arlington though. And Takoma Park is a great community. check out my
website: http://www.2hdb.com/theresa and you will see some links for information etc.
This is a great place to live. You can get a fixer upper here for a decent price.
But here's the thing: closer to Metro, higher the price...do you need walking distance to Metro?
Can you do a fixer upper? I have seen a 1925 stucco home for sale that needs redo but is
under $450...3 bedrooms 1 fb. does need work though.
Let me know if I cna assist you or if you have other questions regarding the market here.
I can help you.

Tim,
Are you still in the market? The prices in Takoma Park and other close-in communities have held up very well in our area. We have a strong market here.
If you're still looking and need some help, just let me know if there's anything I can do. I've help people move here from all over the country, and I'd love to make this transition a little bit easier for you. If you visit my web page listed below, you can browse the local listings and get info on local mortgage professionals, schools, etc.
Good luck, and just let me know if I can help!
Tim, define your need, specify the location, and price range, and let a Real Estate professional assist you in search of your home that fits within your needs and buying criteria. There are many good deals are in the market and with proper planning and strategy you can meet your real estate goals.

The market in DC is remaining fairly strong "inside the beltway". The homes that are selling; are in good condition and are Priced correctly. Clearly; there are some over-priced homes; but the serious sellers are now starting to understand the market conditions and are being realistic.
