There are proprietary programs you can utilize through real estate professionals. Or simply do reporting as you may already be doing through Zillow or Trulia. I imagine over time, you'll have some very valuable (and free!) reporting features in the next year.

I provide reports for my clients monthly based on their zip code or MLS area from a program provided by Terradatum.

I've created a link for you to view a comparison over the past two years showing what was listed and what actually sold for my Temescal client with a 3+ bedroom home in Temescal. They plan to sell in 2009 and knowing market stats leading up to that time is helping them prepare for success. There are other reports I can generate also based upon your interests, just let me know. Here's the one report as an example for 94609.

I have access to Trendgraphix which can provide data from price per square foot, to length of time on the market. Since you are in the Oakland area I would recomment that conact an agent who is familiar with the area and market - that would be either Teresa or Jasmine who work together with WINDERMERE WELCOME HOME. 925 244-1933 - give them a call and ask them to forward the data to you. There are highly skilled, trained and seasoned in the Oakland, Alameda, Piedmont, Berkely area. Good Luck

That should be pretty easy to do. Closed sales are a matter of public record, though contacting a Realtor would give you easy access to that information, but there is also the hall of records in Oakland.
