Craigslist is a great place to find home rentals.
Here's a home in Indianapolis that was posted there, just search "houses for rent" and there are quite a few posted.
Furthermore, Indianapolis Star classifieds is a great place to find rentals as well.

Every landlord looks at credit reports differently some have strict requirements and some understand that certain situations happen in peoples lifes. My best advice to you is when you apply write a letter explaning the circumstances of the discrepancy on your credit report. This will show good faith and your willingness to explain and that your acknowledging the issue. Turn this letter in with your application.
