Having sold a number of homes in Maricopa the experiences shared with me would be very normal for the Arizona desert. A few have seen some scorpions and the other typical pets. I have had a few report the cattle odor can show up and the flies also on some days. The cow odor and flies are being reported by individuals that are used to metro area without farm odors.

Hey this is a great retirement state lots of huge shopping malls, listed among the nine safest states, chech crime statistics to verify, very disciplined state, home of Hershey chocolate factory and best of all home of the worlds greatest football team the Pitsburgh Steelers,... more
Millie, Almost NO ONE who lives in Maricopa works in Maricopa. Unless it is in fast food or retail. You would have to travel 45miles or more to find work in your field. I live in Maricopa and have for three years now. I love it, but some folks DON'T like the commute. It is very congested as there is really only one way to get out and in from each direction. Further, if you don't know what dairy farms smell like, when you visit Maricopa you will surely find out. The town of Maricopa has that COW smell almost all the time. They are trying to fix it, but haven't been successful yet.... more
The area is newer with much of the build up in the last 8 years. Has shopping, but far from the central commute area making rental more difficult. Renters want to live closer to work. This is also a reason that home prices are lower in Maricopa.
Renting in the central areas is always easier.
