Not sure why you would choose to buy a home without a Realtor. Most commissions are paid by the seller. I feel it is very important to use one to protect you throughout the whole process. If you do not need a loan and have enough cash to pay for the home this shouldn't be an issue, you can buy right away.
If you need a loan, and you just defaulted on another (broke your promises to pay) I suspect a lender is going to want to know just know why you did that and also see that you have been re-established financially. Doesn't that make sense to you?... more
Hello Javajim, a good indication of a listing by a realtor is a sign in the front yard, they often stand out by broker name, flyers etc. You can also use my website by enterting the house # or street its on, this will show active and pending listings by real estate agencies. The note you received is more than likely a Notice To Vacate. If you do not comply with that notice, you will get served with an official court eviction notice which will name a date and time at which the Sheriff will make you leave and your possessions will be removed from the home and placed outside for you to take. Many banks are offering cash-for-keys after a foreclosure to avoid going through the legal process.
